Earlier this year I was forced to put my personal possessions into storage while waiting for my new flat. Unfortunately I didn’t remove my skincare and beauty products before my furniture was locked away.
Our removals company had recommended a local, secure storage firm who provided a containerised storage facility. We were in such a rush to get our furniture, clothes and household items packed into crates and ready for the removal men that I forgot to take all of my beauty and skincare products out of my chest of drawers before it was whisked away to the storage facility.
When we (finally) got to move into our new house the removals guys retrieved our belongings from storage and we found that several of my containers of moisturiser, toner and foundation had not been closed properly. You can’t imagine the mess that these had caused.
The chest of drawers had obviously been turned upside down at some point because there was moituriser and toner everywhere. I’d never realised that products that are so good for my skin are actually not very good for furniture and clothing.
Let this be a warning to anyone who is putting any of their valued belongings into storage. Always check to make certain there is nothing that will make a mess or cause damage if it leaks out, because it will!
